Introducing a new artist residency hosted by Troy University Department of Art and Design, with funding from the Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
Alabama-based artists are eligible, as well as artists with a strong Alabama connection.
Stipend, housing, materials budget and studio space are provided.
Artist will be provided an exhibition at the International Arts Center in Spring 2027
Artist has shared access to department facilities and equipment.
Facilities include full ceramics lab, photo lab and darkroom, printmaking studio, painting studio, wood shop, digital 3D studio, and computer lab. These facilities are shared with classes, but artist will have their own private studio space.
Exhibition opportunities are possible.
Residency is three weeks long, and will be scheduled in Spring 2026. Once the resident is selected, we will work with them to set specific dates. (February, March, April).
Resident artist is responsible for limited public/community engagement.
Applications open soon, with a deadline of November 7, 2025.
Applications will be reviewed in early November, and applicants will be contacted by the end of the month.
The residency must be scheduled during Troy’s Spring 2026 semester.
Week-long visiting artist positions are also available, with the number dependent on funding. Each position includes a $1200 stipend, which covers travel and materials. Housing, meals, and studio space are provided by the department.
